Start with a budget Then set a power/boost/compression goal Then start pricing things.I've never built a built bottom end, but things can get out of hand money wise, fast. **************************************** With that said: I'll guess for now, that you are looking "stock-ish", or wanting to run boost/power what others run on a stock bottom end, on your partially built for longevity bottom end. I'd get coated pistons. I've never heard of CP, but then again I didn't search, and again, I haven't built a built Z motor. I'd look into running a slightly higher compression ratio, unless it would cost bank compared to off the shelf pistons. I'd run my stock rods, but I'd have them shotpeened, and I'd look into having them cryo treated. I'd take them to Zcon, and pay $10 each to have Mr. K sign each one, with an Aztec Red Sharpie. I'd get the whole rotating assembly balanced. I have no idea the cost involved in most of that, but that's where I'd start. You need larger pistons if your cylinders aren't hunky dory, and need to be bored.
